Plywood

Plywood, along with oriented particle board (OSB), medium density fiberboard (MDF), and particle board (or particle board), is one of the numerous engineering wood products used in construction. The layers in plywood refer to wooden veneers, which are placed one on top of the other at a 90 degree angle and bonded together. The alternating arrangement provides structural strength for the final product, while unlike some other products, plywood has a standard wood grain appearance.

Plywood is a best wooden sheet material widely used for building and decorating purposes. Our plywood meets global plywood standard(likeEPA,CARB,).We supply plywood sheets as hardwood plywood, birch plywood, marine plywood, poplar plywood, WBP plywood for interior and/or exterior applications.
Plywood is a panel consists of some plies of veneers. The veneers are peeled from wood logs, like hardwood, birch, poplar, oak, pine, etc. These wood veneers finally will be bonded together with adhesive under high pressure and high temperature 。
Types of plywood
There are many different types of plywood, although there are two main types of plywood that are particularly common in residential construction projects:

plywood (2)

Softwood plywood
Usually made of spruce, pine, or fir or cedar, softwood plywood can be used for walls, floors, and roofs.
Hardwood plywood
Like softwood plywood, hardwood is also used in construction projects, but requires higher structural strength and damage resistance. It is usually made of birch, oak, or mahogany. Baltic birch is a special type of birch plywood made in Europe. It is famous for its waterproof and pleasant appearance, making it a popular choice for cabinets.
Decorative plywood
As the name suggests, covered wood veneer(or decorative) plywood is designed to cover panels and form a smooth, paintable surface. The wood veneer used to cover plywood includes ash, birch, mahogany, maple, and oak.

Bending or flexibility plywood
plywood (3)
Since this is usually not a multi-layer product, but a single layer veneer of tropical hardwood, it can be said that it is not truly plywood. Flexible plywood is typically used for cabinets and other furniture, but its architectural uses may include spiral stairs and arched ceilings.
Marine plywood
Marine grade plywood is designed for conditions that may be humid for extended periods of time. This can include ships, but it is also often used for outdoor cabinets, occasional decks, and other outdoor facilities in coastal areas.
Aircraft plywood
Aircraft plywood is usually made of birch, Okoume, mahogany, or spruce, and is sometimes used to make aircraft, although it has a range of other uses, from furniture to musical instruments. It is particularly heat-resistant and moisture-resistant.

Plywood grade
Mastering the grade of plywood is as easy as A, B, C… and D and X. Plywood has two panels, so if you see a board with a grade of “AB”, it means that one side is of A-grade quality and the other side is of B-grade quality.
A: This is the highest quality plywood, with a smooth surface and no knots or repairs.
B: This level basically has no knots, although some tight ones (less than 1 inch) are acceptable.
C: C-grade plywood may include knots up to 1.5 inches and knots below 1 inch.
D: The minimum level can have sections and holes up to 2.5 inches in length. Generally speaking, any defects have not been repaired with D-grade plywood.
X: X is used to represent external plywood. CDX grade means that one veneer of plywood is C-grade and the other is D-grade, designed specifically for outdoor use.
The common grade plywood can be written as follows :
B/BB plywood
BB/CC grade plywood
DBB/CC grade plywood
C+/C Pine plywood – Sanded & Flat
CDX Grade Plywood–i.e. C-D Exposure 1 Plywood

Plywood Size
The most popular plywood size in the United States is 4 feet by 8 feet, but 5 feet by 5 feet is also common. Other sizes include 2′x2 ‘, 2′x4′, and 4′x10 ‘.
The thickness range of plywood can range from 1/8 inch, 1/4 inch, 3/8 inch… to 1 1/4 inch. Please note that these are nominal dimensions, and the actual dimensions are usually thinner. During the preparation process of plywood, approximately 1/32 inch of thickness may be lost due to polishing.

Face/back of plywood
There many different face/back veneers for plywood : Birch, Pine, Okoume, Meranti, Luan, Bingtangor, Red Canarium, Red Hardwood, hardwood, poplar and so on.
A special face/back veneer is reconstituted engineering face/back veneer. It has very uniform colors and beautiful grains, while prices are competitive.
