What does CDX mean?

CDX grade construction and industrial plywood from the US voluntary plywood standard PS1-95 was established by the APA Engineering Wood Association. ‘CDX’ is not a name for plywood grade. CDX stands for “C-D Exposure 1 Plywood”. C-D refers to plywood with one side of grade C and the other side of grade D. The letter “X” indicates that the glue for plywood is the outer glue.

Is CDX plywood an exterior wall plywood?

CDX plywood is not an outer plywood. This is exposed plywood. Because the core veneer of CDX plywood is not as good as the outer plywood. CDX plywood has strong moisture resistance, but cannot be exposed to water or climate for a long time. It is an economical and practical plywood. CDX plywood is usually ground rather than polished. The face/back of CDX plywood is flat. Small knots are allowed on the face/back.

The CDX plywood we produce as follows:
Face/back: C-D grade birch, pine or other
Wood core: Poplar, pine, or hardwood
Glue: WBP glue
Size: 1220 x2440mm (4ftx8ft),
Thickness: 9mm/12mm/15mm/18mm/21mm-35mm or 5/16 “, 3/8 of” 7/16 “, 1/2″, 9/16 “, 5/8 of” 11/16 “, 3/4″, 13/16 “, 7/8 of” 15/16 “, 1″

Due to its durability, CDX plywood is typically the material chosen by builders for outdoor applications such as roof panels and sub floors. Its strength enables it to handle areas with high pedestrian flow, such as stairs and entrance passages, making it also popular in interior decoration. Its ability to withstand humid conditions and exposure to sunlight and wind makes it an excellent choice for outdoor applications, such as fences, decks, and sheds.
Another major feature of CDX plywood is its relatively low cost. Although some hardwoods may be very expensive, CDX plywood is a cost-effective solution for projects that do not require the highest grade materials. The low cost of CDX plywood also makes it an excellent choice for DIY projects.

CDX plywood is easy to use and assemble, making it an excellent choice for many projects. Due to the horizontal surface formed by the veneer, this material is easier to install than many other types of wooden materials. It has a wide range of uses and can be cut, drilled, or painted to create any design you can imagine.

Whether you are building decks, fences, or sheds, CDX plywood is the perfect choice. It has attractive finishes, durable strength, and a price that is only a small fraction of certain hardwood options. Building with CDX plywood will definitely create a reliable and attractive structure that can last for many years.
